For some, a graduate degree is not enough. From a bag of the newest programs catering to students, there is the Joint or Dual MBA. Following the trend, last week INSEAD and the Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) announced the launch of a dual MBA/MA degree program. This program is for those interested in careers in international relations and business and will allow students to pursue SAIS Master of Arts (MA) and MBA degrees simultaneously.
Students will spend one and a half years at SAIS and one year at INSEAD completing the two degrees in two and a half years, instead of the usual three years required to complete the degrees separately. Applicants interested in the dual-degree program will apply to each school separately and must meet the admission requirements for each school.
Over the course of the dual-degree, students will have the opportunity to study with SAIS in Washington DC and Bologna, Italy, as well as in Fontainebleau, France and Singapore with INSEAD. They would also have the option to exchange to Kellogg or Wharton while at INSEAD.
Jake Cohen, dean, INSEAD MBA program says “There is a clear need for students to have a sophisticated understanding of both international affairs and management issues in an increasingly complex and interdependent world.”
The dual MBA degree would be an excellent preparation for students intending to pursue careers that combine international relations and business administration.
The Dual MBA degree is the new talk in town. To understand the scope and things to be kept in mind while zeroing in for the degree, stay tuned for our series of blog “MBA Watch” coming next week.
