When I went to her I had already decided on the topics of my application essay, but hearing me out she took the time to dig in my background and help me on what I actually should focus. I’d been dreaming about Penn since I was 9 years old and Kavita helped make this reality.

I entered 11th grade quite content to concentrate on my academics and an extra-curricular activity here and there. When I took the IB programme I had no idea that I would be swamped by names of universities normally only seen on the walls of dentists and lawyers. The hurly-burly mass of university advertising that has become I permanent fixture of my inbox seemed more daunting than even my chemistry teacher. The world of college admissions seemed un-navigable until I joined Futureworks consulting as a client. My list of close to 50 universities was methodically converted to a manageable 10. This was not done arbitrarily but rather keeping my own interests and potential in mind. This I think was the defining feature of working with this company. Personalized attention.
Now, I sit content having got into Magdalen College, Oxford to read classics, which was always my first choice university. My experience with Futureworks was not only valuable in terms of the end result but also because of the various activities that I involved myself with, ranging from learning Greek to writing a research paper about the conflict in Kashmir.
Even if I hadn't got into college, which I have to stress would be a near impossibility when working with Futureworks, I learned more than enough along the way to make it a truly fulfilling journey, one that I have enjoyed immeasurably

Thank you... thank you... thank you! I can’t believe I am at Columbia. When I first started the application process I was nervous and not sure if I should be aiming at the top schools. Kavita conducted a deep analysis of my background and help me realise that I had credentials to get into top schools. Throughout the application process she reassured me and made me focus on my strengths – for the essays, resume and interviews. I believe her guidance played a very important role in ensuring I got accepted.

I planned to apply to INSEAD, Tuck, Columbia, ISB and Darden; in that order of preference. Plan was: INSEAD, Tuck and ISB in the first round; and Columbia and Darden in the second round (we never came to that). I converted ISB and INSEAD and I withdrew my application from Tuck after interview.

I believe starting with the process early benefited me as it’s a very lengthy process. For an Indian, engineer (especially IT), male – it’s highly recommended as finalizing a coherent goal (short and long term) and digging into your work-ex and co-curricular to create a short-list of accomplishments, takes time. Futureworks helped me identify and map my strengths and weaknesses with those of the top business schools and helped my narrow down the list. Further the issue of networking and cold-calling, something that I was very uncomfortable with. Kavita helped me through the entire process, how to approach Alumni/representatives of schools, how to research and what questions to ask and how to carry that relationship forward.

Kavita spent quality time with me, more than I expected anyone to; making sure my application was as strong as it could be. This time around I got into most of the schools I have applied to and even got from one of them got a scholarship as well. I decided to go with California College of The Arts as that’s where the Professor I always wanted to work with currently teaches.
